Sometimes a show is just the two of us having a conversation, but we also have guests on the shows from our hometown, Bangor, ME and from all throughout the USA. Veterinarians, authors, trainers, behaviorists, filmmakers, shelter managers, and others have all shared their knowledge with us on The Woof Meow Show.

Green Acres Kennel Shop is looking for an artist, illustrator, art student, or just someone who likes to draw to enter our Poop Fairy drawing contest. Getting people to pick up their dog’s feces can be a struggle. Whether it’s in public places, on a hiking trail, Green Acres’ play yard, or your yard, not everyone does the responsible thing and picks up the poop.
We recently saw this sign on FaceBook, used by the Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation Department and we decided we wanted our own version. It caught our attention, made us laugh and got the message across in what we think is a non-confrontational manner.
We want a similar sign for the Green Acres play yard so we’re holding a Poop Fairy art contest with very simple rules.
1. We want an illustration of a mythical poop fairy. The illustration should be in color and have a tasteful yet humorous appearance. There should be no text on the illustration.
2. Entries must be submitted as an electronic file (jpg, png or gif) or on white paper, no larger than 8-1/2 X 11. Electronic entries can be emailed to donh@greenacreskennel.com and non-electronic submissions can be sent to 1653 Union St., Bangor, ME 04401-2204, ATTN: Don.
3. An individual may submit a maximum of three entries.
4. Entries must be submitted by 05/31/2014 and become the property of Green Acres Kennel Shop.
5. We will pick our top 3 to 6 choices and make them available for an advisory vote on our FaceBook pages as well as in the store.
6. The winning entrant will receive a $100 gift card for Green Acres OR a $50 gift card for another locally owned, business in the greater Bangor area.
7. Once we’ve selected the winner we’ll have signs made for Green Acres, and if there is sufficient interest, maybe for resale.
