In part 4 of this four part series, Don and Kate interview Dr. Ron Schultz, Professor and Chair of the Department of Pathobiological Sciences at the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Dr. Schultz is one of the foremost authorities on animal immunology and vaccinations. In this show we'll talk to Dr. Schultz about The Rabies Challenge Fund. This research project was initiated by Kris Christine, a Mainer whose dog Meadow developed a malignant tumor at the sire of his Rabies vaccination. Working with Dr. Jean Dodds and Dr. Schultz, and with the donations from dog clubs as well as individual animal owners, the funds research goal is to demonstrate that the Rabies vaccine is effective for 5 to 7 years. Many of you that know Don know that his Golden Retriever had a serious reaction to a Rabies vaccine when she was young. Though she lived to sixteen, it greatly affected her life. This series of shows with Dr. Schultz are a kick-off to a fundraising campaign Don, Paula and Green Acres are holding to raise money in to further the work of the Rabies Challenge Fund and to memorialize Tikken. http://bit.ly/HjrFE0
