One of the most important periods during a puppy's life is the socialization and habituation period which occurs between 8 and 16 weeks of age.
During this period a puppy will be most open to exposure to new things; whether they are people, environments, objects, places, types of dress, other animals and much more.
This is why starting your puppy in an appropriate puppy kindergarten class during this time is so essential. While a puppy class alone will NEVER meet all of your new pups socialization needs, the instructors can provide you with ideas and activities to aid your cause.
Even more importantly, they can help you understand how to socialize your puppy most effectively. You most setup situations to be positive and not overwhelming.
