Kate and Don interview Rob Crone from the Eastern Area Agency on Aging and discuss one of EAAA’s projects, the Furry Friends Food Bank. This program provides pet food for seniors and the disabled in Hancock, Penobscot, Piscataquis and Washington counties that are having a hard time making ends meet. Without this program, many of these clients would need to choose between feeding themselves or their pet. In many cases, their pet is the only living thing that they interact with many days so keeping them together and healthy is critical. Last year this program delivered more than 55,000 pounds of pet food to over 1,100 clients aided in part by Green Acres Kennel Shops fundraiser. You can learn more about the program and the fundraiser by listening to the show or by checking out www.greenacres-donate.com.
